The president of the Fiji Trades Union Congress, Daniel Urai, has been released from the Suva Magistrates Court on bail.
Mr Urai faces charges under the interim regime's Crime Decree of urging political violence.
The director of the International Labour Organisation's Pacific Island Countries office, which is based in Suva, was in court for the hearing.
David Lamotte says Mr Urai has been bailed to his home in Lautoka.
"The conditions of bail are daily reporting to the Lautoka Police Station and an evening curfew and two assureties have been made to the court."
David Lamotte says the money, which he believes to be five-and-a-half-thousand US dollars, was put up by the General Secretary of Fiji's Council of Trade Unions, Attar Singh, and the General Secretary of the Teacher's Union, Agni Deo Singh.
