A freeze on annual pay increments for executive branch workers of the American Samoa government is being lifted for the first time in four years.

The freeze has been in place due to the financial pressures on the government.

The governor Togiola Tulafono says revenue collection has slowly improved so the government is in a position to pay the increments from January.
