Sport: England not phased by sevens table

10:08 am on 10 December 2011

To the first day of the World Sevens Series in South Africa's Port Elizabeth.

Samoa have beaten the USA, England and Argentina.

Fiji beat Zimbabwe, Portugal and France. And the New Zealanders have beaten Scotland, Morocco and France.

Meanwhile, confidence is high in the England camp.

Ben Ryan's team are just seven points behind series leaders Fiji following their win in Dubai at the weekend but he says, for once, they aren't placing too much emphasis on who is or isn't above them in the overall standings.

"This season I don't seem to be as addicted to looking at that table and at the moment we just want to do as well as we can and where we fall, if we hit a semi or a final, or win it again here, and we still don't end up on top of the series then nobody's going to be too worried. I think it's all about getting some success in the tournaments now and it will mean points and whether it means first, second, third or lower, if we're going in the right direction then I think it will be good for the series."
