Samoa's only daily newspaper, The Samoa Observer, is now operating from a more than 800,000 US dollar building at Vaitele.
The new building was opened recently by the wife of the Head of State.
At the opening, acting prime minister Tolofuaivalelei Falemoe Leiataua congratulated the editor in chief Savea Sano Malifa and his wife Muliagatele Jean Malifa for their achievements.
Savea started the newspaper from a friend's umu or cookhouse in Vaimoso in 1979.
Tolofuaivalelei says there is no doubt the Samoa Observer has contributed to media development, democracy building and open governance in Samoa for many years.
The newspaper has won a number of international and regional media awards.
