Samoa Journalists Association supports removal of membership from PINA

The Journalists Association of Samoa has voted to cut ties with the Fiji-based Pacific Islands News Association.

PINA has been at odds with other media groups since its management refused to speak out about the censorship of media by the Fiji interim regime.

The association believes PINA is no longer upholding its functions of defending media freedom in the region because the duties and responsibilities of the media in Fiji have been threatened by the military government.
