Latest figures from the Northern Marianas tourism body show an increase and change in the make-up of visitors to the territory.

The Marianas Visitors Authority reports that last November's just over 29,000 arrivals were up eight percent compared with the previous November's figure.

For the first time, visitors from South Korea outnumbered those from Japan, with a nine percent rise to more than 11,000, almost 2,000 more tourists than that month's number from Japan.

Asiana Airline's new Busan to Saipan charter flights contributed to the rise, representing a gain of more than 7,500 seats between mid-November and March.

Charter flights operated by Delta Air Lines are also expected to add more than 3,000 seats from Busan.
