Audit of Samoa Rugby Union accounts completed following complaints

12:38 pm on 7 January 2012

An audit of the Samoa Rugby Union accounts is complete.

The original scope of the audit focused on millions of dollars donated by Manu Samoa fans in Samoa, New Zealand, Australia and American Samoa as the team prepared for the 2011 World Cup.

However it was expanded to cover the period from January to October 2010.

The Union's Treasurer, Klaus Stunzner, says a report will now be presented to the Board within the next two weeks.

The audit followed complaints and dissatisfaction over the running of the Union and management of the Manu Samoa team during the World Cup.

The complaints were made public by Manu Samoa Captain Mahonri Schwalger less then two weeks after Samoa bowed out of the World Cup.
