Three Cook Islanders have been flown to New Zealand for medical care because of the serious nature of their injuries.

One is a youth from the far north island of Rakahanga who had fallen six metres from a tree and injured his spine.

An elderly woman was evacuated after suffering injuries in a motor vehicle collision.

The third patient is an old man who fell at home, breaking his hip.
