A freelance journalist in Fiji says it is surprising so many votes were lodged on the last day of a poll being run by Fiji TV to establish the country's newsmaker of the year.
Fiji TV first announced the Consumer Council Chief Executive, Premila Kumar, had won the title, but a week later declared the coup leader Frank Bainimarama the winner.
The journalist, Ricardo Morris, says one thousand five hundred votes were reportedly lodged on the last day of the competition, more than three times the number received by the poll's initial winner.
He says Fiji TV has been accused of acting unethically by closing the poll one day before the advertised date.
Fiji's Attorney-General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, says he has reported the company to Fiji's Commerce Commission and Media Development Authority.
Fiji TV says it will fully co-operate with any investigations into how the poll was conducted.
