Members of Parliament in Samoa have been reminded that they lose their seats if they go to overseas meetings for three consecutive days without the Speaker's permission.
The speaker, La'auli Polativao, also says he noticed some MPs arrive late to sessions or make an appearance before vanishing again.
He says when parliament is in session, MPs must not be absent from their seats for two consecutive hours.
The Speaker issued these reminders at the start of the this year's first session of parliament.
The Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi has urged the Speaker to impose penalties on the next MP who violates the attendance rules.
