Samoa NCC chairman resigns

2:29 pm on 20 January 2012

The Chairman of Samoa's National Council of Churches, the Reverend Elder Oka Fauolo, has stepped down due to health reasons.

The Congregational Christian Church reverend has been serving as chairman for 20 years.

During his time of service he was involved in a petition from the Council of Churches to the Government asking to consider limiting the number of churches and faiths entering the country.

However, a commission of inquiry appointed by the government to review section 11 of the constitution recommended maintaining freedom of religion.
