Vodafone Fiji tops up phones in flood areas

12:24 pm on 26 January 2012

Vodafone Fiji has topped up its prepaid customers' mobile numbers with $5 dollars of talk time in those areas most affected by the floods.

The manager of Corporate Affairs, Shailendra Prasad, says the amount was credited yesterday afternoon as emergency assistance.

He says a lot of people have been cut off from access to mobile phone top-up shops at a time when communication is essential.

"So these people are not able to make calls out if they needed to make emergency calls either to relief centres, or evacuation centres, or to their loved ones, so we've topped up all the pre-paid mobile numbers from Nadi to Rakiraki."
