Talks for Namosi mine stakeholders

7:27 am on 31 January 2012

Further talks are planned in Fiji today on the proposed Namosi mining project.

The ministry of information says the meeting will involve the prime minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, landowners and the Namosi Joint Venture, which includes Australian and Japanese companies.

It says the talks will address any and all outstanding issues and misinformation.

Last week, Commodore Bainimarama held what was described as a successful meeting with landowners in Namosi and Naitasiri provinces.

He stepped in after some landowners objected to the project, with the secretary of the Namosi landowners committee, Sipiriano Nariva, hoping the Commodore would heed their concerns.
