The Cook Islands Tourism Corporation says more than 112,000 tourists visited last year, injecting an estimated 260 million US dollars into the economy.

The government body says this is an eight percent increase over 2010, adding 10 million US dollars to economy over the year before.

The corporation's chief executive officer Carmel Beattie says 2011 was a busy year for the corporation, which saw the Cook Islands' foreign marketing campaigns expand, its online presence grow and its media coverage swell.
