Large quake strikes Vanuatu

An earthquake measuring 6.9 struck near Vanuatu early this morning, but there has been no reports of damage.

The United States Geological Service says the quake was was centered 122 kilometres west of Port-Vila, and 10 kilometres deep.

Police in Port Vila, say the quake was felt strongly, but there had been no reports of damage.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says, there was no threat of a widespread destructive tsunami.
