Papua New Guinea's senior judges have told the Government it must comply with two Supreme Court stay orders concerning the Chief Justice, Sir Salamo Injia, and to enforce them without question.
The stays were issued last week after the prime minister Peter O'Neill announced his cabinet had suspended Sir Salamo to allow for allegations of misconduct in office against him to be heard.
The Post Courier reports the Deputy Chief Justice Gibbs Salika, issued a statement on behalf of the judiciary, saying the court orders in relation to the suspension of the Chief Justice must be complied with.
He says Sir Salamo must be accorded all the privileges and courtesies of the Office of the Chief Justice, including free and unhindered access to his chambers and elsewhere.
