A Cook Islands group helping victims of domestic violence is pleased more incidents of abuse are reported to authorities.

Punanga Tauturu Inc works alongside police and with a local men's support centre, handling issues of anger management and alcohol dependence.

Its coordinator, Rebeka Buchanan, says their campaigns to stop the abuse of women and children appear to be working.

"What's happening now is the women, as well as the police, are coming out to report the cases, and not just them but their family also. So that's what's happening, we are campaigning all the time, we have stuff on TV and radio, it's good to see."
