Head of PNG Telikom suspended

10:15 am on 17 February 2012

The head of Papua New Guinea's Telikom, Peter Loko, has been suspended by the Minister for Public Enterprises Sir Mekere Morauta.

He was replaced by acting CEO Charles Litau

Sir Mekere told the Post Courier paper that Mr Loko has been stood down pending investigations into large-scale unauthorised contracts and commitments by the corporation.

Peter Loko says it's difficult to run a telecommunications company in the face of growing international competition and customer demands.
