Police in Samoa have recovered almost all of the 600,000 US dollars stolen from the Ministry of Revenue last week.

Two junior officers of the Finance Department of the Ministry are now in custody to await their court appearances on theft charges.

The Samoa Observer reports the Assistant Police Commissioner, Le'aupepe Fatu Pula, as saying the money was found at Fagali'i-Uta on Tuesday night.

Le'aupepe says only just under 2,000 US dollars has not been recovered.

He says the money was found at the home of one of the officers.

Le'aupepe alleged the two officers broke into a vault and took the money when they finished work last Monday evening.
