Fiji typhoid outbreak prompts public health emergency

A typhoid outbreak in Fiji has prompted a Public Health Emergency for a village and a settlement in Ba.

According to FBC News, the declaration was made by the Deputy Secretary Public Health Dr Joe Koroivueta.

Koroboya village and Naitasiri Settlement in Ba have been put under strict conditions.

Dr Koroivueta says people living in these villages have been restricted from moving in and out and no one is allowed into these settlements.

The emergency will run for 30 days and after that the Ministry will review it.
