Tongan police expect to lay at least 18 charges following an investigation of embezzlement at Westpac Bank.
Police were alerted to the crime following a complaint from the bank.
The acting Police Commissioner, Siope Soakai Motu'apuaka, won't confirm the amount of money stolen, or where it might have gone.
"That's yet to be confirmed, but I can say it's a large amount of money. We see 18 charges already. We have to complete our investigation, we should...arrests should be very soon, because we're coming very close to the end of our investigation."
Siope Soakai Motu'apuaka says charges are expected to be laid within a week.
