The LBJ Medical Center in American Samoa is reportedly preparing for cuts to staff working hours this weekend.
The reductions are part of the agreement with the government under which the LBJ gets access to a three million US dollar loan from the Workmen's Compensation Account.
It is understood that the financially troubled hospital hopes to save about 60 thousand US dollars each paid period.
However, that number does not include any savings by voluntary deductions from contractors and other workers.
Currently about 800 thousand US dollars is paid out each pay period.
