Police have charged ten workers at the Westpac Bank of Tonga in connection to the theft of tens of thousands of dollars.

Eight of them were charged on Monday with embezzlement and theft.

Two were charged last week.

Radio Tonga reports police say they believe that about 50-thousand US dollars has been stolen from the bank but their investigation is still on-going.

All the accused - 5 women and 5 men - have been suspended from work and they've been released on bail.

All ten accused are expected to re-appear in the Magistrate court next Monday.
