Fiji Warriors coach Inoke Male is encouraged by the progress of a number of young players in the Pacific Rugby Cup.

The defending champions beat the Crusader Knights 17-13 on Friday to move ahead of Samoa A at the top of the PRC standings.

While looking to retain the team's PRC title, Inoke Male is also on the lookout for players capable of stepping up to the Flying Fijians team for June's Pacific Nations Cup tournament.

He says the matches in Australia and New Zealand are a good opportunity to test players capabilities of stepping up to the next level.

"Lots of young guys coming in for the Warriors this year have put up a good show, showing that they're capable of providing a position in the national team."

The Fiji Warriors next match is against the Blues Development team in Auckland on Tuesday.
