The wife of Tuvalu's prime minister, Willy Telavi, has been hospitalised in Moscow with pneumonia.
The Interfax news agency says Mrs Telavi, who had been accompanying her husband on a trip to Abkhazia, is in Moscow's Central Clinic Hospital.
Tuvalu recognised the breakaway Georgian region as an independent country last year.
Mr Telavi had led a group of Tuvalu observers at Saturday's parliamentary elections in Abkhazia.
On Friday, Mr Telavi and the Abkhaz Prime Minister Leonid Lakerbaya signed an agreement on visa-exempt travel, while the Tuvalu Chamber of Commerce signed a cooperation agreement with the Abkhaz Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
