Sport: PNG beat Nepal for first win at T20 qualifiers

6:55 am on 16 March 2012

A superb performance with the ball has inspired Papua New Guinea's cricket team to it's first win at the World Twenty20 qualifying tournament in Dubai.

Playing against the previously unbeaten Nepal, the Barramundi's batted first and made 137 for 8, with Chris Amini top-scoring with 38 not out.

In reply, five of PNG's six bowlers went for less than six runs per over as Nepal were held to a miserly 102 for 8 from their 20 overs.

That win moves PNG up to fifth place in Group A ahead of their next match against Hong Kong beginning on Friday evening.
