3:13 pm on 30 March 2012

Fiji's interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama has handed over land leases to representatives of Melanesian countries for the building of diplomatic posts in Suva.

The first three leases were given to the governments of Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu yesterday during the summit of the Melanesian Spearhead Group..

Fiji Live reports that land has also been allocated to New Caledonia's FLNKS, which is also a member of the MSG.

Mr Bainimarama says the land leases re-affirm Fiji's commitment towards strengthening the MSG.
