Cooks to review banking services

1:37 pm on 2 April 2012

The Cook Islands Government is planning a review of banking services to develop a long term strategy for the sector.

The Minister of Finance and Economic Management, Mark Brown, says it will look to lower the cost of banking services, improve accessibility for businesses and residents and provide banking that supports the major growth sectors of the economy.

Mr Brown says the review, which had been recommended by the economic taskforce last year, will be conducted in four phases, with the first phase to be overseen by former Kiwibank chief executive, Sam Knowles, who will arrive in the Cook Islands mid-May.
