Nadi resident says the Fiji town looks like a war zone after severe flooding

The President of the Fiji Law Society says parts of Nadi look like a war zone and the Government doesn't have the funds or resources to help people.

Three people have drowned, and thousands have been forced into evacuation centres after severe flooding.

A tropical depression is currently directly over Vanuatu and is expected to hit Fiji later today.

Dorsami Naidu, who is also a Nadi resident, says every shop and home has been damaged and they have no power and no water.

He says the government needs to make water available and supply boats to rescue stranded people.

"I don't think they've got the resources or the funds or the ability to help their own people. I mean, the warnings weren't there."

Dorsami Naidu says the police have also turned a blind eye to people who have been seen looting but Government spokesperson Sharon Smith-Johns says there haven't been any real problems with looting.
