The Cenderawasih Military Commander in Indonesia's Papua region has accused the Free Papua Movement, the OPM, for shooting at an airplane in Puncak Jaya during the weekend.

The Twin Otter plane operated by Trigana Air was shot at shortly by unknown gunmen after it touched down at Mulia Airport.

A journalist was killed and four others injured, including the pilot and first officer.

Tempo Interactive reports Major General Erwin Safitri as saying the perpetrators were armed OPM members and that the military will use arms to deal with them.

Major Erwin suggested that Goliat Tabuni, the head of the OPM's military wing, the West Papua National Liberation Army, was behind the attack and is believed to have fled to the bush.
