Oceania football to decide under 17 womens champion today

9:54 am on 13 April 2012

In Auckland today Oceania's Football's under 17 womens championship will decide who will represent the region at the FIFA under 17 world cup later this year in Azerbaijan.

New Zealand is highly favoured to seal the sole place available when they tackle Papua New Guinea.

The Young Football Ferns are aiming to qualify for their third world cup and need just a draw in their final game because of their superior goal difference over PNG.

Cook Islands and New Caledonia will complete their campaigns when they meet in the early match of the day.

Yesterday the New Zealand under 20 side made significant strides towards the FIFA under 20s world cup in Japan this year with a 10-1 victory against New Caledonia.

Samoa and Papua New Guinea drew one all.

The final round of matches in the OFC under 20s will be played tomorrow.
