1:01 pm on 20 April 2012

The first ever short film competition has been launched in Vanuatu and it's set to become an annual event.

The competition, launched by the Australian High Commission and Vanuatu Broadcasting and Television Corporation, is encouraging both amateur and professional film makers to take part.

The works of the ten best finalists will be screened to the public in Port Vila when the winner will be announced.

Mr Stevenson Liu of the Vanuatu Broadcasting and Television Corporation says there is a lot of creativity in film making by local people and the competition will provide an avenue for people to showcase their talents.

Entries need to be submitted before May 18, and have to be one to ten minutes long in any language.
