The more restrictions lifted the better, says member of Fiji's Constitution Commission

The fifth member of Fiji's new Constitution Commission, Peni Moore, has joined in a call to have restrictive decrees lifted.

The Commission's chairman Yash Ghai has already said Fiji's laws should be reviewed and changed to ensure people can meet, discuss and lobby freely.

But Ms Moore says despite the decrees she has been able to continue her work with marginalised communities.

"Definitely the more restrictions lifted the better but I think when you've got a will, it doesn't matter what's there. There's ways around the decrees as well ...not being illegal but still persisting in your work."
