The American Samoa Government spent one million US dollars more than what was approved for the 2008 Pacific Arts Festival.

The Fono had approved 2.5 million in government assistance for the festival but a report submitted by the Treasurer Magalei Logovii to the Senate Investigating Committee shows the government spent 3.5 million.

Magalei said by the time he was brought into the committee overseeing the festival, all the money donated by companies and individuals to host the festival had been used.

He said many bills were left unpaid and local businesses were appealing for help.
