Samoa's LTA moves to reduce greenhouse gas emissions on roads

The Land Transport Authority is moving to reduce greenhouse gas emissions on the road in Samoa.

It has launched vehicle exhaust emission testing equipment to clamp down on vehicles that billow out black smoke.

Training on use of the equipment will be conducted by a representative of PetrolJet Limited of New Zealand.

The Chief Executive Office of LTA, Leasi Galuvao, says the training will help staff assess and monitor vehicle exhaust emissions as part of normal vehicle checks.

The project will also promote awareness on greenhouse gas emission mitigation in Samoa.
