The president of Samoa's Returned Services Association has again called on the prime minister and the government to restore the public holiday for the commemoration of ANZAC Day.
Le Mamea Sefulu Ioane made the call before invited guests and dignitaries, including the prime minister Tuila'epa Sailele Malielegaoi, during the commemoration of ANZAC Day at the RSA club in Apia.
Le Mamea says the day will continue to be observed as important for those who died in wars, especially sons and daughters of Samoa.
Three years ago, the government dropped ANZAC Day as a public holiday, but continues to commemorate the day through a dawn service under the main town clock in Apia.
