A candidate for governor in American Samoa is promising to quickly sort out the financial problems confronting the LBJ hospital.
The struggling hospital last week imposed new fees which will see most outpatient clinic costs double to 20 US dollars a visit.
The lieutenant governor, Faoa Aitofele Sunia, kicked off his campaigning at the weekend, along with running mate, Taufetee John Faumuina Jr.
He says he is prepared to address the concerns about the hospital.
"What is very clear, however, is that LBJ hospital continues to operate as usual. The truth is, the tough issues currently faced by LBJ hospital are mainly money. And not life-threatening, as some people want the public to perceive."
