Tonga's $36 million US hospital refurbishment completed

King Tupou VI will open the completed third and final phase of Tonga's $36 million US dollar Vaiola Hospital refurbishment this Friday in Nuku'alofa.

Vaiola Hospital Superintendent Dr Paula Vivili told Radio Tonga the completed upgrades include an antenatal clinic, the hospital's administration building, the school of nursing, dental department, a new muliti-purpose building and new mortuary.

The first two phases were completed in 2007 and 2010 and the final phase cost $18 million US dollars.

More than $11 million US dollars of the total project is the Government's loan from the World Bank.
