O-League preliminary tournament set for tight finish

10:25 am on 4 May 2012

The battle to grab a possible spot in the Ocean Football Confederation's O-League will be decided in tomorrow's final round of action at the O-League preliminary tournament in Tonga.

Its a three way tussle to see who will take on New Caledonia's Mont Dore in a one match play off to decide who will be promoted to next year's O league competition.

Tupapa Maraerenga from the Cook Islands upset Kiwi from Samoa 2-1yesterday while host Lotoha'apai United over ran Pago Youth from American Samoa six nil.

Tupapa have the edge to go through as they are expected to defeat Pago youth by a healthy margin but if the Tongan side can also beat Kiwi they would draw level with Tuapapa on points.

If that evenuates the group winner would be decided by goal difference.
