A 30-year-old New Zealand leight-weight boxer, Rodriguez Gomez, has died in Tahiti after collapsing 32 seconds into his first professional fight.

The French Polynesian Boxing Federation says he was rushed to a Papeete hospital but died an hour later.

It says, Gomez, who was a former kickboxer, was boxing against Karihi Tehei, who also had his first professional fight.
