The bench warrant for the Fiji fugitive Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba Mara has been extended to July.

Ratu Tevita fled to Tonga a year ago while he was on bail after being charged with sedition.

As a senior military officer, he was a member of the regime that seized power in 2006.

But after his escape, he strongly criticised the military and accused it of torturing people taken to the barracks.

Fiji Village reports the case will be called again on July the 19th.

Fiji has unsuccessfully tried to have Ratu Mara extradited.
