The former leader of the Opposition Tautua Samoa Party has been found guilty on two charges of bribery and one of treating.
Va'ai Papu Vaelupe was alleged to have given 130 US dollars and a bottle of whisky to Fao Ualesi one of the high chiefs of Asau on the 4th January 2011.
The court dismissed 13 charges of bribery against Vaai.
His sister Foilagi Maso, with whom he was charged, was found guilty of one charge of bribery.
Judge Mata Tuatagaloa highlighted the intention of the Electoral Act to eliminate corrupt practices.
She said the receivers of such corrupt practices should also be charged and not just the giver.
Va'ai Papu will be sentenced on the 15th June.
