Sport: Samoa and Fiji open PNC rugby tournament with wins

Samoa and Fiji have begun the Pacific Nations Cup rugby tournament in winning fashion.

Manu Samoa came from behind to defeat Tonga 20-18 in Nagoya, with second half tries to Galuefa Falamore and David Lemi proving just enough to see off the boot of Kurt Morath.

The Flying Fijians also had the edge in the try-scoring stakes as they ran out 25-19 winners against hosts and defending champs Japan.

Japan coach Eddie Jones says to concede three tries from turnovers was a real lesson although, despite the result, he was still encouraged by their performance.
