India has made an impressive start to the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships in Apia.
Deru Jamjang took gold in the youth men's 50kg after lifting 170kg, with compatriots
Aruna Santa, Chanu Indubala Atom, Chanu Sanjita Khumukcham, Kalgonda Ranjit Chinchwade and Karthik Suresh Moorrayil also picking up Commonwealth Gold.
The event also doubles as the Oceania Championships.
Papua New Guinea's Kathleen Hare claimed gold in the Oceania senior women's 48kg, with Fiji's Seruwaia Malani taking the junior title, while Nauru's Elson Brechtefield lifted 217kg in the junior men's 56kg class and Fijian hope Manueli Tulo managed 237kg in the senior men's class.
