Samoa police raid uncovers drugs and guns

1:17 pm on 21 June 2012

A police raid at Tuvao village in Samoa early this morning uncovered drugs, guns and other contraband.

Talamua Online says the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Leaupepe Fatu Pula, confirmed police conducted the raid after receiving information from the public.

Tuvao is an inland village on Upolu between Faleatiu and Fasito'o-uta and Leaupepe says the raid is linked to the ongoing investigation at Faleatiu village.

Police found drugs, guns, a telescope, video machines, bullets and many electrical appliances - much of it buried in the ground.

Last month, there was a shootout between police and a family in Faleatiu in which one local man was killed.

It is understood that police were looking for guns used during last month's raid.
