Sport: Samoa seek fresh start

The Samoan netball team is looking for a fresh start at this week's Pacific Series after a year of change.

Long-time coach Linda Vagana has retired, with Auckland-based Marcia Hardcastle now at the helm, while only five players from last year's World Champs squad will be in Suva for this week's tournament.

Marcia Hardcastle says she's trying to involve the players more in decision making, while still offering a guiding hand.

"We are only seeded 13th in the world at the moment - Fiji is in 7th - so a goal for us is to make sure we can seal all of our wins across there and this will help with our World Cup rating."

Samoa's first match is against Cook Islands on Wednesday.
