Niue man dies of severe form of dengue

The funeral has been held of an art teacher in Niue who died of dengue last week.

Most of the island's population was at the funeral of 46-year-old Charles Jessop who taught at Niue high school and was renowned for his contributions to Polynesian artwork

The island has been hit by dozens of dengue infections since early this year, with Mr Jessop succumbing to haemorrhagic dengue fever.

Many relatives of Mr Jessop returned to Niue from Auckland to attend the funeral held at his home village of Mutalau.
