Talamua media in Samoa faces lawsuit action

8:25 am on 10 July 2012

Talamua Media in Samoa is applying for a strike out motion against a lawsuit brought by a former manager of the Electric Power Corporation, Lesaisaea Reupena Matafeo.

Lesaisaea is seeking over 118 thousand US dollars in damages.

The media company's founder, Apulu Lance Polu, says the case had been brought on vexatious and frivolous grounds.

Talamua argues that the article in question last year did not name the plaintiff although he was already named in the other media reports.

Apulu said the fact that he has chosen to sue only his business and reporter, and not the other newspapers, further goes to show that these proceedings are not brought about in good faith.
