PNG confident for Solomons chancery to be completed

5:25 pm on 11 July 2012

Papua New Guinea's acting secretary of Foreign Affairs, Lucy Bogari, says she is confident that the government is committed to finishing a chancery building in Solomon Islands.

Ms Bogari told the Post Courier newspaper that work on the site in Honiara has been at a standstill for two years after the contractor had exhausted all the funding provided.

The PNG Government had given the company, Transworld Commodities, more than four million US dollars for the project in November 2009.

Just a third of the work has been completed.

Ms Bogari says the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has made submissions for more funding under the Public Investment Program.
