Cooks honours five overseas doctors

Five medical professionals have been given honorary permanent residency of the Cook Islands in recognition of their service to the country.

The foreign minister Tom Marsters has described them as outstanding overseas professionals who have made an extraordinary contribution in health services to the people of the Cook Islands.

The five are Dr Andrew MacDiarmid, Dr Robert Eason, Dr John Veale, Dr Michael Webber and Dr Paul Rosser.

They join a group of about 30 others who have received honorary residency over the last 40 years.
